Graduation Requirements

The courses that are required for graduation mirror the courses required by the public schools for multiple reasons.  First, the majority of our students choose to continue their education which means they need to meet the entrance requirements for public and/or private trade schools, colleges, and/or universities.  What is different in our setting is that we can choose different curriculums to fulfill those course requirements.  In addition, we are prepared to present material one-on-one when necessary.  Finally, we work to mastery. A copy of the state of Texas graduation requirements can be found on the Texas Education Agency’s website – www.tea.state.tx.us.  We offer the Foundation High School Program, House Bill 5, both with and without Endorsements and a Distinguished Level of Achievement diploma.  We do not mirror exactly the offerings of the public schools for many reasons.

Graduation Ceremony

We have an off-site graduation ceremony for our seniors each year in May.  It is a traditional ceremony in that we order invitations, etc. from Josten’s, our students wear caps and gowns, and friends and families are welcome.  It is; however, also very different in that our graduates and their parents are the program vs. a guest speaker.  It is a very special event, and it truly celebrates the milestones that our young people have successfully completed.

Transcripts

Cedar Hill Preparatory Academy students will be provided with an official transcript when required course work is completed. Sealed transcripts may be given to the parents/students; however, many colleges/trade schools require transcripts that are sent directly from our school. For graduating seniors, one sealed transcript and one transcript for their personal records will be provided at the graduation ceremony, and graduating seniors may request transcripts be sent to as many as three schools of their choice at no additional cost. Transcripts in excess of three will be charged at a rate of $10.00 per unofficial transcript and $15.00 for official/sealed transcripts. Cedar Hill Preparatory Academy is accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) – Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (CASI).  This accreditation is recognized by the Texas Education Agency.
